cyber security - another groups presentation

Cyber security is a major issue for anyone with a computer. Everyday people are getting information stolen because of carelessness on the internet. According to the presentation, 28 billion dollars were spent on cyber security in 2016 by the united states government. Cyber crime has cost companies and governments 500 million globally. There are many types of cyber crime. Phishing is one of the most common, where a fake spam email is sent to get personal information from the receiver. Also, according to the presentation, 1 in 131 emails contains malware. That means it contains some kind of virus or program that is harmful to the computer. Other types of cyber crime include identity theft, hacking, spreading hate, child pornography and sexual advances. Cyber security aims to spread awareness of these issues as well as fight against them. Not only was cyber security talked about in the presentation but also the idea of cat fishing online. Cat fishing is when someone online, usually through social media or a dating website, fakes their appearance to attracted younger females. They make fake profiles and try to get the girls to meet them in person or fall in love with them on the internet. The video we watched showed a predator being caught in the act on a popular tv show. He entered an underage girls house and when she left the room, he took his clothes off. When confronted he said he didn’t know what he planned to do but it would defiantly have not been right. He then got arrested as soon as he left the building. Being careful on the internet is extremely important. You never know when your safety or personal information is at stake.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence or AI Is the ability of a computer program to have the living capability of learning. Although learning and being able to act as humans is the end goal, creating a robot that can learn and think at the same level of a dog would be extremely impressive. This would mean a program would have the ability to adapt to its surroundings and write its own code to solve problems. Although I feel like the video, we watched was fake, it was a good example of what I mean. We watched a video where 3 robots were told that two of them were given a pill and couldn’t talk. The only robot that could talk didn’t know who took the pill and who didn’t until it heard its own voice and realized it hadn’t taken a pill. It learned from an outside source and rewrote its solution. I do think that video was fake and that the programmer designated the robot to say what it did, however. Some people don’t believe AI will ever truly be possible because its still man made and doesn’t have a soul. The code that will inevitable allow a program to learn and adapt will have been written by a human, but the code the robot writes will be from itself. I don’t think true AI exists yet, but I think were not to far away. I give it 30 years before we have robots that have the same intelligence levels as dogs or some other living animal.
