where journalism is going?

In the past, before the internet and world wide web, journalism was almost exclusively provided in the form of newspapers. Today, while newspaper still exists, most people get news and updates almost immediately from the internet. People who plan on majoring in journalism today are probably prepared way differently from in the past. Today everything is online, and the journalism field had to adapt to that just like everything else. Now people can go on any social media site and learn more about current events than was ever previously available. Social media is changing how journalism is presented drastically. Snapchat has its own news providing channels that come in the form of quick and to the point videos or images. Twitter Has its top stories sections which is news based on what people are tweeting the most about. With these kinds of news sources, you can basically know about current events in the world as there happening or very quickly after. Since the internet has blown up journalism has grown with it because now instead of just newspapers, there are hundreds of websites and platforms that hire journalists to keep up with the latest news. Another new thing that came with internet journalism is clickbait and ads. Websites will use colorful pictures and exciting headlines to get people to click on a link and read about something. A lot of them are along the lines of “top ten ways to prevent acne” or “you won’t BELIEVE how he got those abs”. Although those seen like stupid ways to get people to click the ads, it works. I firmly believe everyone has clicked on an add to see a celebrity look alike or top ten life hack list at some point in their life. This is where journalism is heading, a widely saturated market where it Is easier than ever to access information.
